Slow Cooked Chunky Beef Pies | Acoking

My Slow Cooked chunky beef pies | Acoking. I super happy with how they turned out. Hubby ate 2 pies šŸ˜ I did the meat mixture in the slow cooker.

Slow Cooked Chunky Beef Pies | Acoking Recipeā€¦.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoon oil

700 gm chuck steak, 1cm diced (this is important unless you want bigger chunks) seasoned with salt and pepper (1/4 tsp celery salt, good pinch salt, Ā¼ cracked pepper)

1 tablespoon butter

1 large onion diced
2 garlic cloves , minced

1 tablespoon red wine (optional)
2 tablespoon plain flour

1Ā½ cups liquid beef stock
Ā½ water
1 beef stock cube
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon tomato sauce
Ā½ tablespoon worchestershire sauce
Ā½ teaspoon vegemite
2 sprigs fresh thyme or Ā¼ dried

1 tablespoon fresh parsley
2 tablespoon cornflour mixed with a little water

puff pastry to make the pies
(i used 4 sheets)

Instructions:

Season meat. I just used normal salt and pepper

Brown in batches. Set aside

Add 1 tablespoon oil and butter

Add the onion and garlic and cook until onion is transparent

Add wine cook off for one minute

Add flour and cook for one minute

Add the rest of the ingredients (except for the parsley and cornflower) mix well

Put the meat and sauce into the slow cooker. Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours depending on your slow cooker or until the meat is tender

Put slow cooker on Sear mode

Add the parsley and cornflour mix and stir well

Without the lid on let it bubble away for about five minutes stirring occasionally.
turn off the slow cooker

OR
I just put slow cooker dish in the oven to bubble away because I donā€™t have the seat option

Pre-heat oven to 190Ā°C

Cut your pastry to size (bottoms and tops) of your pie dish or for individual pie tins

Fill the pastry with the meat mixture. Then put the top on and seal the pastry edges together. Trim any Excess pastry then go around the edge with the fork to make sure both are sealed together

Put a slit in the top of the pie and brush with egg mix

Put in the oven and cook until pastry is puffy and golden around 20 to 30 minutes
