What You Need to Cook This
For the Meatballs:
- 1 kilogram of ground beef
- 1 big yellow onion cut into tiny pieces
- 1 tablespoon of garlic that’s already chopped up
- 1 tablespoon of ginger that’s already chopped up
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce (it’s a brown sauce from Asia)
- 1/4 cup of hoisin sauce (another yummy brown sauce)
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 4 green onions chopped up
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 1 cup of panko bread crumbs (special crunchy bread pieces)
- 2 eggs mixed together a little bit
- 1 bottle of honey soy sauce mix
Tools You’ll Need
- A slow cooker (the big pot that cooks things slowly)
How to Make Yummy Asian-Style Meatballs
- Put all the ingredients in a big bowl. Use your hands or a big spoon to mix them really well. Keep mixing until everything looks the same color.
- Use your hands to roll the mixture into balls. Roll them so they are as big as a golf ball. You should be able to make about 44 meatballs. Don’t worry if some are a little bigger or smaller!
- Carefully put all the meatballs into your slow cooker. If they don’t fit in one layer, make two layers. That’s okay!
- Pour the whole bottle of honey soy sauce mix over all the meatballs. Make sure the sauce covers them.
- Put the lid on the slow cooker. Turn it to low heat. Let it cook for 2 hours. Then, be very gentle and move the meatballs around a little bit so they don’t stick together. Cook for 2 more hours.
- If the sauce looks too watery, you can make it thicker. Mix a little bit of corn flour with water. Add it to the slow cooker and stir.
