Homemade Doner Kebab (Slow Cooker)…
Home-made Doner Kebab. Wrapped it in Clingfilm and chilled it in the fridge overnight before cooking it today. 15 year old brother says I’ve “nailed it”!! Can’t believe how much it tastes like it’s come from an actual takeaway! Will definitely be making this again. 😊
Did not wrap it anything during the cooking process.
* Did not put any liquid in the slow cooker whilst it was cooking.
*From what I understand, gyro is what we call Doner Kebab in the UK.
Ingredients:
500g lamb mince
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon mixed herbs
1 teaspoon dried/ground oregano
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Method:
Mix all together until it’s almost a paste (I used my hands) then make it into a loaf shape. Wrap in Clingfilm and chill overnight in fridge so it firms up. Cook in slow cooker for either 6 hours on low or 4 hours on high. I turned mine every 90 mins but you don’t have to. You can also add an extra 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and 1 teaspoon black pepper if you want it spicier. Some recipes add 1 teaspoon paprika as well. I had to make it with a 15 year old in mind, Lol!! He’s not a fan of anything too spicy. It’s just so easy and tastes so good!!!
