Rissoles in Yummy Brown Gravy: Steps
- Layer the onions: Put your 1 large onion, cut into slices into the bottom of the slow cooker. Spread them out so they cover the whole bottom.
- Mix the gravy: Mix 2.7 ounces gravy powder (to make 750ml of gravy) with 3.1 cups cold tap water (for the gravy) in a jug or bowl. Stir it well, then pour it all over the onions. Make sure you use cold water — not hot!
- Add the rissoles and herbs: Place your 16 raw beef rissoles (meat patties) on top of the onion and gravy. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon dried rosemary and 1 teaspoon dried oregano over the top.
- Cook low and slow: Put the lid on and cook on LOW for 5 to 360 minutes

. If you are home halfway through, you can gently flip the rissoles over. But you don’t have to — they will still turn out great! - Thicken the gravy (optional): If you want the gravy to be thicker, carefully take the rissoles out and keep them warm. Then cook the gravy on high heat on the stove or use the searing setting until it thickens up. You can also stir in a little cornflour mixed with water to make it thick and glossy.
- Serve and enjoy!: Dish up the rissoles and pour that rich gravy all over them. Serve with creamy mashed potatoes and some steamed green veggies on the side. Yum!
