I tried SAUCY STEAK PASTA in the slow cooker. My partner thinks this is better than my chunky steak pie and sticky honey chicken. It was pretty delicious! I had no idea what I was doing but I just used what I had in the cupboard and it turned out really nice!
Ingredients:
1kg chuck steak
1 onion sliced
1 carrot grated
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 50 gram packet tomato paste
1 beef stock cube with cup of water
1 teaspoon raw sugar
1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
2 tablespoons gravy powder
2 tablespoons tomato sauce
Sprinkle of mixed herbs
Flour seasoned with salt and pepper to coat.
3/4 packet of Penne pasta
Directions:
Dice beef and coat in seasoned flour and cook over medium-high heat in pan with melted margarine.
After five minutes add onion and carrot and cook until soft.
Mix in all other ingredients and stir until all combined.
Transfer to slow cooker and cook on low for 8+ hours. Stirring a couple of times towards the end as mixture will start to stick to sides.
Stir in cooked Penne pasta and serve with grated Parmesan(optional) and whatever you like on the side

Member Question…. Why do you have to put it in the slow cooker when you have already cooked it on the stove top? You say, cook the veg till soft and you have add all the ingredient apart from pasta which is also cooked on the stovetop – surely you don’t need to cook for another 8 hours?
Answer…. Because browning the meat on the stove seals in the flavor and then putting it in the slow cooker makes the meat tender and falls apart. So it surely does need to be cooked for another 8 hours.
Member Question…. Looks yummy! Are you Italian by any chance because you just cooked a very traditional Italian way of cooking spaghetti sauce, my Mum and Nonna always made sauce with steak instead of mince. I reckon it tastes heaps better!
Answer…. no I am not Italian but just thought I would try it with steak because my partner is a big meat eater 😉 it sure does taste heaps better than mince!

Answer…. I just threw in basil, parsley, oregano. Whatever was green.
