Sausages casserole with cabbage mash.
Sausage casserole
1 kg Herb & garlic sausages or just use beef sausages
1 tbsp olive oil
20 gram butter
2 onions, sliced
1 large carrot, diced
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tsp mixed herbs
1/4 cup plain flour
2 cups real beef stock
1/3 cup water
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp tomato sauce
Salt & pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat slow cooker to sear mode. Add sausages and brown all sides, remove & slice thickly.
Reduce temperature to 150. Heat the oil and butter in the slow cooker then add onion, carrot, mixed herbs and garlic cook stirring for 5-6 minutes or until onions are soft.
Add the flour to the onion, carrot, mixed herbs and garlic; cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until browned. Gradually add the stock then the water, then add the sauces and sausages. Mix well.
Cook on LOW for 4 hrs with a slow cooker lid cover or the lid wrapped in a tea towel.
Season with salt and pepper.

Cabbage mash
1 kg potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup milk
30g butter, softened
1 cup finely shredded cabbage
2 spring onions (shallots), chopped finely
Salt & pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Boil or steam potato until tender, drain. Return potato to pot and mash with cream or milk and butter until smooth. Stir in cabbage and green onions. Season with salt & pepper.
