Hungarian Chicken: Recipe Details

Ingredients

2Tbsp Oil

1- 1.5kg boneless, skinless chicken thighs – cut into half.

2 medium onions, sliced

4 cloves garlic, diced

1/2 cup plain flour

4 Tbsp paprika
-
4 tomatoes – large – cut up (approximately 2cups)

2Tbsp tomato paste

1 cup chicken stock
-
1Tbsp brown sugar
-
1/2cup sour cream
-
2Tbsp cornflour

Salt and black pepper
Hungarian Chicken: Instructions

Add the pepper and the flour (2Tbsp).

Add 1Tbsp of oil into a pan on medium heat.

Coat chicken with the mixture of flour and brown two sides of the chicken. (Paprika will be burnt in the event that the temperature is too high.) Put chicken into slow cooker.

Add another 1Tbsp oil into the pan.

Dice any remaining flour with onion that is cut and soft saute onion and the garlic. Place into slow cooker.

Add the slow cooker with all the other ingredients and mix.

Cook on low for 5-6 hours.

10 minutes before serving, mix 2 Tbsp of cornflour and 1/2 cup sour cream. Add in 3-4 Tbsp of cooking liquid and combine and pour into the slow cooker, stir and turn off. (Once again a little of the hot liquid will be placed in the cold dairy prior to pouring it into the hot liquid to ensure that it does not separate when poured)

Add pepper and salt to individual taste.
Notes
This is usually made with paprika which is a sweet paprika therefore the fact as to why I have added brown sugar to it to give me a touch of sweetness since I do not have the paprika in my cupboard.
