Slow Cooker Steak in Creamy Mushroom Sauce
Serves: 6
Cook Time: 6 hours
Ingredients
- 6 pieces of steak (any kind you like)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large red capsicum (red bell pepper), chopped
- 3 shallots, chopped
- 5 large mushrooms, cut into big chunks
- 1 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 300 ml thickened cream
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1/2 cup water
Directions
- Place all 6 steaks flat in the bottom of your slow cooker. Try to spread them out so they sit in one even layer.
- Grab a large bowl. Add the onion, red capsicum, shallots, and mushrooms. Then add the Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, cracked pepper, garlic, cream, paprika, and water.
- Stir everything well until it is mixed together and the sauce looks smooth.
- Pour the creamy mixture over the steaks. Make sure the meat is covered with sauce and veggies.
- Put the lid on. Cook on HIGH for 1 hour.
- Turn the heat down to LOW and cook for 5 more hours, so the steaks get soft and tender.
- For the last 30 minutes, take the lid off. This lets extra steam escape so the sauce becomes thicker and richer.
- Give the sauce a gentle stir, then serve the steaks hot with plenty of gravy spooned on top.
Serving idea: Try it with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttery noodles to soak up all that yummy sauce.
