Ingredients

6 lamb forequarter chops (or blade steak cut to match)

2 brown onions, sliced

3–4 tomatoes, sliced thick

2 cloves garlic, crushed

1–2 chillies, finely chopped (optional)

1/3 cup tomato sauce

1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup brown vinegar

1 heaped tablespoon brown sugar

2 dessert spoons beef stock powder

1 cup water

1 tablespoon cornflour
-
1/4 cup cold water (for dissolving cornflour)
Old-Fashioned Family Casserole Chops: Directions

Put a layer of lamb chops in the slow cooker. Add a layer of sliced onions and tomato slices, then sprinkle the crushed garlic and chopped chilli over them.

In a bowl, mix the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown vinegar, brown sugar, beef stock powder, and 1 cup water until smooth.

Pour the sauce mix over the meat and vegetables so everything is covered.

Cook it on high heat in slow cooker for 3 hours.

About 30 minutes before serving, mix 1 tablespoon cornflour with 1/4 cup cold water until it dissolves.

Stir the cornflour mixture into the cooker to thicken the gravy, then let it cook the last 30 minutes.
