Ingredients

  • 1kg chicken thigh fillets (you can use any chicken cut you like)
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 packet of instant roast chicken or supreme gravy mix (dry, do not add water)
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 200ml cooking cream

Chicken in Creamy Herb Gravy: Directions

  1. Place the raw chicken fillets into the slow cooker. You can leave them whole or cut them into smaller pieces if you want.
  2. Sprinkle the rosemary and thyme all over the top of the chicken.
  3. Sprinkle the dry gravy mix evenly over the chicken.
  4. Pour the half cup of warm water over everything. You do not need to stir anything.
  5. Put the lid on and cook on low heat for 4 hours.
  6. Carefully take the chicken out of the slow cooker. Gently move the liquid around first so any gravy mix on top gets mixed into the sauce. Set the chicken to the side for a minute.
  7. Pour the cream into the slow cooker and whisk it well into the gravy until it is nice and smooth.
  8. Put the chicken back in and cook for another 30 minutes so everything warms up and comes together.

Notes

  • If you want your gravy a little thicker, mix 2 teaspoons of corn flour into the cream before you pour it in. You probably will not need it, but it is a helpful trick to keep in mind.
  • Serve this chicken over creamy mashed potatoes with some steamed vegetables on the side for a simple and filling dinner the whole family will love.
