Beef in soy and orange sauce: Directions
-
Put half the oil in a pan on medium-high heat. Cook the meat in batches until it’s brown all over, about 4-5 minutes. Move it to a plate.
-
Add the rest of the oil to the pan on medium heat. Toss in onion, carrot, garlic, and ginger. Stir for 3 minutes.
-
Mix in orange peel, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cooking wine, star anise, stock, sugar, cold water, and a pinch of pepper.
-
Put the meat in your slow cooker. Pour the veggie mix over it. Put on the lid and cook on low for 5.5 hours.
-
Add chopped capsicum and cook 30 more minutes.
-
If it’s too runny, stir in corn flour to make it thicker at the end.
-
Take out the star anise. Serve hot with steamed rice.
