Country Chicken Casserole. A warm and tasty chicken dinner with leeks, potatoes, carrots, and a rich creamy sauce – all made in one pot using your slow cooker. This easy family meal is simple to make and full of great flavors that everyone will love.
Ingredients
- 10 chicken drumsticks
- 1 leek, sliced
- 3 washed potatoes, cut into big chunks
- A bunch of Dutch carrots, trimmed
- 300ml cooking cream (the kind that does not split when heated)
- 1 packet of chicken gravy mix
- Salt and pepper to taste
Country Chicken Casserole: Directions
- Put the sliced leeks and potato chunks into the bottom of your slow cooker.
- Place the chicken drumsticks on top of the leeks and potatoes.
- Add the dutch carrots on top of the chicken.
- Mix the cooking cream and gravy mix together in a jug, then pour it all over the chicken and vegetables.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper on top.
- Cover it and let it cook on HIGH for about 5 hours.
Notes
- When it is ready, carefully take out the carrots and chicken and place them on serving plates.
- Use a spoon with holes to scoop out the potatoes and add them to the plates.
- Give the sauce a quick stir, then pour it over everything on the plates.
- This dish tastes great with a warm crusty bread roll on the side.
- Try to cut the potatoes into smaller chunks so they cook all the way through.
- You can also use boneless chicken if you like, and feel free to throw in any other vegetables you enjoy.
- This is a wonderful one pot meal that the whole family will enjoy.
